Avett Brothers Halloween

Happy Halloween

It’s Halloween the day before every Avett fan posts a video of November Blue and I’m looking forward to taking my little girl trick or treating for which she will be an elephant. This past weekend the Avett Brothers were in Asheville and I saw some pictures of Avett fans dressed in some fantastic costumes.  The band did not dress but they have performed halloween shows in the past and Scott and Seth have played on halloween going back to the NEMO days. As NEMO they dressed up as zombies and the dead presidents at The Attic in Greenville on October 31, 2000. They also played the Firehouse Tavern in Greenville in military gear on October 31 in 98 or 99, not sure on the year of that one yet. Below is the setlist from that show and notes for the show written by Scott.  Please follow the NEMO1934 Facebook page for lots of great pictures  and news on NEMO.

They didn’t dress up for an Avett Brothers show until October 31, 2008 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Greensboro, NC. They were the four branches of the Military. Scott dressed in a Navy uniform, Seth in Army, Bob in Air Force, and Joe in Marine Corp. The crew joined in also with Pete as Abraham Lincoln, Dane and Justin were Lloyd and Harry from Dumb and Dumber

At the Ryman in Nashville, TN on October 31, 2009 they would dress up as The Three Amigos and Joe was Jefe.  Mike Marsh would join them on drums for a few songs.

They would surprise the crowd by dressing up the day before halloween in 2010 by dressing up as mummies at the Ryman in Nashville. They would  kick off the show with Die Die Die.

It would be a few years before they would dress up again but in 2014 at the US Cellular Center in Asheville they would go big, with band and crew dressing up as characters from The Wizard of OZ.
